Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training
and Yoga Alliance Certification Intensives
500-hour Level II Modules
June 18 July 2, 2010
Nov 12 26, 2010
Ubud, Bali

Are you ready to go deeper with Yoga? Are you currently teaching, and interested in taking your teaching to a more powerful and effective level? Already graduated from a teacher training and seeking to further your education? Looking for a deep and challenging immersion into yoga philosophy and technique?

Devoted to growth and learning, weve innovated a new approach to the timeless power of yoga our Level II teacher training modules are geared toward the evolution of the understanding, practice and teaching of yoga, and are specifically designed to benefit those for whom yoga is already a part of life.

Our modules intelligently synthesize a blend of potent components - master teachers; focused, effective, and cutting edge teaching methodologies and learning environment; organic living foods; and the spiritual and natural beauty of Bali - to create a magical gestalt of experience. Any three of the fourteen-day modules can be combined for 500 hour Certification, and each is uniquely created as a stand-alone experience.

Each Level II training module also features a specific theme relevant to the modern yogi aspiring to greater joy in their life in a contemporary world, illustrated by a rotating team of master teachers. We highlight and explore the theme for each module through philosophy study, physical practice, and learning how to inspire those who come to us. Trainees can artfully create their own intermediate yoga education and training by selecting which modules and themes they are interested in exploring -each one unique and never to be repeated. This allows the advanced practitioner to optimize their deeper training according to interests and strengths.

Themes and faculty schedules are included below. Each of the fourteen-day Level II modules stands alone as a complete experience, and any three of them may be combined to meet the requirements for the Yoga Alliance 500 hour training (prerequisites apply). Daniel Aaron, E-RYT 500, guides each module and orchestrates the curriculum along with guest gurus in the styles of Astanga, Iyengar, Jivamukti and more.

*June 18July 2 ,2010: DEDICATION, DEVOTION AND DISCIPLINE:
how concentration clarifies intention for the yogi.

Dedication. Giving ones time, effort or self to a certain purpose; its in service to something, to the creation or realization of something. Ken Blanchard states: There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.

Devotion. Love, loyalty or enthusiasm. Its easy to see what anyone is devoted to: simply observe their life. What we say and what we do indicates what we value. Certainly there are many of us who speak and act unconsciously, living by default rather than intentionally. Yet to be on a yoga path means moving toward conscious action, creating results in-line with our intentions and goals. Yoga practice increases awareness. The clearer a perspective we obtain through our practices, the more obvious is the answer to the question what are we devoted to?

Discipline. Discipline can be defined as valuing the results that come from one action over the results that come from another action. Joseph Chilton Pearce, child and human development specialist, reminds us that discipline originated from the word disciple, a joyful follower. And once again the question is disciplined for what?

Dena Kingsberg, Edward Clark, Punnu Wasu and Daniel Aaron explore these complex fields through physical practice, philosophical studies, discussion and more.

There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results. Ken Blanchard

*November 12 - 26, 2010: YOGA AS ART
Edward Clark, Ron Reid, Meenakshi, Dave Stringer, Daniel Aaron

Perhaps the greatest art project any of us create in our lives, is our life itself. When asked what message he would give to the world, Gandhi responded my life is my message.
In The Tree Of Yoga, B.K.S. Iyengar writes that if as an artist you also practice yoga if you are in touch with the internal levels of your being you will develop a vast range of expression and your art will become what is known as satyam, sivam, sundaram, true, auspicious and beautiful. Art then becomes divine.

In his brilliant essays in The Dance Of Siva, the philosopher Ananda K. Coomaraswamy makes the exciting claim that the experiencing of beauty is the same as that of religious experience that we are justified in identifying beauty with Brahman -and that in this experience, the distinction between individual and Brahman is transcended. If this is so, artists who study yoga as Mr. Iyengar suggests, will be making art that uses Beauty as a way for their public to actively engage with Brahman.

The Yoga as Art module will explore a range of yogic practices, exercise, philosophies and studies specifically designed to deepen the trainees overall experience of and teaching of yoga, and directly in relationship to yoga as art.

yoga instructorAbout Vibrant Living Yoga
As the saying goes 'the truth cannot be said.' It can, however, be heard. It's inherent in each of us. It's who we are. The essence of yoga is remembering who we are.

We create conditions where the truth might be heard through challenging asana (posture), vinyasa (breath and movement), spiritual insight, pranayama (breath exercise), meditation, music, and humor.

Vibrant Living Yoga guides you to experience yourself free of false limitations and the Training empowers you to assist yoga workshopothers. Drawing on my extensive yoga practice and training (with dozens of modern masters), you will dive deeply into a spectrum of today's yogic styles, including Jivamukti, Iyengar, Astanga and more. Discover how you share yoga by learning what's come before you.

Students will find his refined approach to practice both challenging and rewarding.

Dave Stringer
David StingerDave Stringer has been profiled in Time, Billboard, In Style, and Yoga Journal as a leader of the new American kirtan movement. Kirtan is a form of mantra chanting that has become popular as a participatory live music experience at hundreds of yoga studios worldwide. Dave's sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sound of American gospel, jazz and funk.

Initially trained as a visual artist and jazz musician, Dave first started chanting mantras when a film-editing project brought him to the ashram of Swami Muktananda in India. After the film project ended, he remained in India to teach school in a rural village, and continued his studies of the traditions of yoga under the guidance of Swami Chidvilasananda. He began teaching meditation to prison inmates and leading kirtan at yoga studios across America in the mid 1990's.

Dave and his band tour tirelessly, performing throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. An articulate public speaker, he probes the dilemmas of the spirit with a wry and unorthodox sense of humor. His work constructs a modern, participatory theatrical art form out of the ancient traditions of kirtan and yoga, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all. (Nov)

He started studying music at the tender age of 5, by his father who is deeply rooted in devotional music, kirtan and mantra chants. Punnu also studies and plays the mandolin. He has performed in India, Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Dubai, Russia, Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom and more. (May/June)

Frank Giglio Frank Giglio
Frank is a classically trained chef from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT and a graduate of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. Since the age of 15, Frank has fully immersed himself into the culinary world. Young and intrigued, Frank went on to apprentice under famed chefs Philippe Boulot of the Heathman Hotel, and Todd English of Olives in Boston.

There he was able to find a deep understanding for the creative process of working with food, as well a learning the fine art of tastes and flavors. As the years past, Chef Giglio sought after a deeper connection to food and has come full circle in doing so. All I really want to do, is make good food. Simple, fresh and whenever possible, local food, prepared with good intentions. Simply put, Franky is constantly seeking the best food available through local farms and high integrity importers. After changing his direction to a more plant based diet, Frank sought after the education from some of the leaders in the rising raw food movements like Gabriel Cousens and David Wolfe. Merging classical technique with herbalism, superfood + raw food nutrition and whole foods preparations, have allowed Chef Giglio to create a clean, pure, and healing style of cuisine. (Oct/Nov)

Bali
The island of the gods, Bali and her people is a culture Yoga International magazine describes as ‘living yoga.' Spirituality, harmony with nature, peacefulness - these elements embody the Balinese way of life. Ubud, an artist's Mecca, is the cultural heart of Bali. Embedded in rice terraces, temples and powerful energy, at a slight elevation so cooler than the nearby coastal heat, Ubud's climate has turned it into the perfect yogic destination.

"The Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training has changed my life. The experience opened my eyes to the treasures in the world of yoga. Daniel takes you on a journey of self discovery through nourishing gourmet raw food, challenging your body in asana practice, meditation, studying ancient texts, listening to modern philosophers and building a personal practice. Guest faculty brought a depth of knowledge to the training with an incredibly high level of expertise. This is a teacher training for current teachers or people new to the path of yoga. A bonus is the magical setting of mystical Bali. I will be back for future courses." -Janet Carscadden, physical therapist, Burlington, VT.

"If you want to strengthen your spiritual, physical, and philosophical yoga practice you can attend any teacher training. The Radiantly Alive yoga teacher training is just different: it is a process that you cannot believe or understand until you live it and be with it. You will have your own unique experience and it will change the way you stereotype yourself and everything around you. Beware: If you LOVE your life the way it is, and do NOT want it to change (i.e. get better) stay away." -Rebecca Hillary, science teacher/yoga teacher, Philadelphia, PA.

"You are extraordinary! If you want to become aware of it, this is what you can do: Vibrant Living Yoga Teacher Training.' Calling it a yoga teacher training wasn't really fair. It's been an education into all of life. For years I've been traveling around the world searching for something - finally now in Bali, with this 'training' I've found what I've been looking for - I've come home. Words may not have the power to express my gratitude, but nevertheless receive many thanks for what you have created for us."- Markus Gmachl, tour guide, Morocco.

“Sitting at my desk on a dull English winter day idly googling 'yoga' and 'running away from my 40th birthday' yielded some unexpected results. Four months later I emerged blinking with jetlag into the Balinese sunlight. Be prepared to physically and emotionally let go of a large quantity of toxins past. Expect to share the airy open yoga studio, set level with the swaying treetops, with butterflies, dragonflies and joyful cartwheeling swifts. Expect to be shocked at your potential. Absolutely demand to be shaken into radiant life by some of the best teachers on the planet. And fully anticipate being spat back out into your old world to find that nothing is quite the same. I dragged my sorry carapace of misery from events of the past few years with me to Bali. And somewhere in a star-splashed night I shook it off. I danced with abandon, I laughed long and loud from the depths of my belly, I rejoiced in my own silence, listening and learning. I rediscovered my body and my creativity, I allowed my vulnerability and my tears a voice and accepted all the comfort offered, I looked without shyness into beautiful eyes and faces.oh yes, and somewhere along the line I did some yoga too and found out I could be a yoga teacher. This stuff works. Although it couldn't stop time, I am thrilled to report that I am now 40, fabulous, and free.” - Jay Kipling, UK - writer, animal welfare campaigner, PR company director.

What Faculty say about their experience:
“The Radiantly Alive Teacher Training Program is unquestionably one of the most intriguing and comprehensive courses with which I've had the pleasure to be associated. It is rare for a Teacher Training to successfully endeavour to cover so many aspects of yoga training. However, the Radiantly Alive people address meditation, pranayama, philosophy and nutrition as seriously as they do asana. All these subjects are delivered by teachers who are top notch in both skill and reputation. Indeed, it is as stimulating for the teachers to be exchanging ideas with each other as it is for the students on the receiving end of the instruction. The effectiveness of the training is further enhanced by the beauty and seclusion of the venue. It is hard to imagine how this singular training could be bettered, but, as the organizers are dedicated to constant improvement, I'm sure they'll find a way.” -Edward Clark, founder of Tripsichore Yoga Theatre, London

“I had a fabulous experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. It’s a brilliant idea for students to be introduced to numerous paths of yoga over the month. I predict it will keep growing over the years and I hope to be continually involved – I will recommend it whenever I get the chance.” - David Williams, first non-Indian to learn entire Ashtanga from Pattabhi Jois, Maui, HI.

“Daniel Aaron is the most professional, organized and conscientious person I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His yoga teacher training is a huge gift to anyone who gets to be involved. Daniel is an amazing teacher, and his classes are the best I've ever taken. He is exceptionally thorough, present, available and grounded, which proves his teachings are coming from a deep, centered source. From the beginning to the end of the workshop he brings a passion, vibrancy and true commitment to helping his students to have a transformational experience. This is truly groundbreaking, expansion based work and I am honored and blessed to be a part of such a revolutionary project.” -Elaina Love, author, chef, teacher, restaurateur, San Francisco, CA

“I teach in many programs and trainings around the world. What’s happening here is very special. The combination of elements that Daniel’s put together, from the beauty of the nature here and the villas, the food, you all living together, it’s powerful. I seldom see a group so present and focused as this. You should consider yourselves very lucky.” -Govinda Kai, advanced Astanga yoga teacher, Tokyo, Japan
