  • 6:00am – 7.00am: Fresh roasted coffee and organic smoothies/juices
  • 7:30am – 10.00am: Yoga or Surfing classes
  • 10:00am – 11.30am: Time for you – Optional surfing, study or beach time
  • 11:30am – 1:00pm: Healthy, organic brunch buffet
  • 1:30pm – 3:30pm: Dharma studies with Lama Marut
  • 3:30pm – 5:00pm: Group activity/excursion
  • 5:00pm – 6:30pm: Dinner buffet

The Location

Located in beautiful, seaside Canggu, Samadi Bali offers yoga for every one, healthy home-made food and integrated treatments in a unique space dedicated to radical well-being and self-empowerment.

Samadi offers an exceptional space, artistically and stylishly laid out. The surroundings are quaint and comfortable, designed for luxury living enclosed in a heavenly green lush environment.The views of the rice fields, adorn this living space and all its amenities.

You’ll be in a quiet and peaceful area of Canggu, just minutes to Echo beach which is loaded with local and western restaurants, shopping, and entertainment.

The Team

Lama Marut

Lama Marut

At various stages of his life, Lama Marut has been a monk, a surfer and a motorbike fanatic. He is extensively trained in the spiritual traditions of India and Tibetan Buddhism. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Religion and taught for over two decades in the academic world, first at Columbia University and later at the University of California, where he retired as Professor Emeritus in 2004. He lived as a Buddhist monk for eight years and has served for the past fifteen years as a spiritual teacher to students around the world. Lama Marut is currently the Spiritual Director of eight “Middle Way Centers” located in North America, Australia, and Singapore

In addition to several scholarly studies and translations based on Sanskrit materials, he is the author of the popular and award-winning book, A Spiritual Renegade’s Guide to the Good Life (Beyond Words, 2012) and his new book, Be Nobody (Beyond Words, 2014). With his unique mixture of erudition and earthiness, intensity and humor, conviction and openness, Lama Marut’s message is easily accessible and life changing. We continue to encounter the vicissitudes of life – the waves that arise and that we encounter in life on a moment-to-moment basis. The goal is not to attempt to control those waves, nor is it to be able to predict each and every one. Cindy Lee

Cindy Lee

Cindy has studied Buddhism and meditation for almost 20 years and has also completed intensive training in the classical texts of yoga philosophy. She continues to try to deepen this practice as a way of life.

With a Bachelor of Arts from Swinburne University and a Graduate Diploma in Electronic Design and Interactive Media, Cindy has taught as a lecturer at university film and media programs in Australia. As a digital artist she has produced video installations and short films for dance performances in Europe, and has designed motion graphics for VJing at electronic music festivals worldwide. And as an artist her teaching and practice is inspired by hagiography, mythical archetype and the relationship between art, creativity and wisdom. Also trained in dance, martial arts and yoga asana, Cindy enjoys a visceral approach to practice with an emphasis on embodied awareness and integration with our true nature.

When an artist in residence at LA’s 18th Street Arts Center in 2006, Cindy met Lama Marut with whom she began collaborating in developing podcasts, websites, video broadcasts, books and graphic design. They are now married and co-teach internationally at retreats and workshops designed to bring the universal wisdom of all authentic traditions into our daily lives.

Sanna Kokkonen

Yoga has been Sanna’s passion and driving force for more than twenty odd years. She has fond memories of being one of Petri Raisanen’s first Ashtanga Yoga students in the early 90’s. In a small loft room of a dance studio in Helsinki, Finland she practiced this ‘under-ground’ thing called ‘Ashtanga’ and for the next fifteen years lived a strict disciplined, sweaty, asana based life under the glow of the charismatic Sri K. Patthabi Jois.

Patthabi Jois’ sad departure led eventually to the joyful discovery of Lama Marut, her wise and witty spiritual mentor who changed the course of her yoga path towards the inner practices; meditation, pranayama and eastern spiritual thinking and philosophy. Lama Marut authorized Sanna to teach Tibetan Heart Yoga – a form of yoga developed secretly inside the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

Home for Sanna is Asia, Bali and her beloved yoga studio Radiantly Alive. Her goal is to always strive to become a better version of herself and try in small ways to make the world a slightly better place. Her sincere hope is that by sharing the ancient system of yoga through her own learning and experiences, she can help her fellow beings to become a better version of their current self.
